Many of our friends and fans are facing the threat of an unprecedented fire season. Though we're keeping busy at the distillery, we're thinking of all of you and hope we can bring a smile to your faces with this 'Haus newsletter
A COOLING SYSTEM NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD
We may be a bit biased, but we're smitten with our new copper plumbing and flow indicators that will carry fresh Sierra water to cool our still, One Eyed Jack. This cooling system is crucial to distilling- it will effectively convert the alcohol vapors produced during distillation back into liquid form... giving us the good stuff that we've all been waiting for.
Once we wrap up our building renovations in the coming weeks, our real work begins:
distilling, finishing, aging, and bottling. And that brings me to one of our impending spirits...
HINTERHAUS VODKA: A TIP OF THE HAT TO CALIFORNIA WINE
Though vodka is most often distilled from fermented grains or potatoes, it can also be distilled from fermented fruits including grapes. Having come from the wine industry, one-half of Hinterhaus (Bonnie) has long been impressed with the quality of vodka distilled from fermented grapes (aka wine). For you Cîroc fans out there, you know what we're talking about.
Paying homage to our Sierra Foothills region, we decided early on that we would distill Hinterhaus Vodka using only California wine and our fresh Sierra Nevada water. Just wait until we can distill and bottle this amazing goodness... it sports a rich mouthfeel that's stunningly gorgeous neat, or enjoyed in your favorite mixed drink. As soon as it's distilled and bottled, you'll be among the first to know.
